And I’m Back

Anyone who is well versed in the world of blogging will likely tell you that the number one rule is not to start something you don’t intend on sticking with. Well, looks like I went ahead and broke that rule, didn’t I?
In a futile effort to redeem myself, I’m shining my focus back on this here blog, and hope to be able to restart regular postings about my weird and wonderful journey through the world of being a freelance web developer.
Quite a lot has happened since I last posted. I finally received approval for the North East Service Providers Register (with which I have mixed experiences); managed to get myself into a new home (no more working from the corner of the ‘in-laws’ spare room!); I’ve had new clients, revisted old clients, and completed my biggest and most challenging job to date, only to end up completely screwed out of payment.
I’ve also developed some fantastic relationships with key business personnel which are now an integral part of my future plans, and I’ll be posting a little more on those in the coming days and weeks.
It’s been a tough few months, however, and although I have raised my rates substantially, a change in how I’m doing business has left a major gap in my cashflow, so for the last month or so I’ve been on the breadline. Still, I’m hanging in there on the knowledge that I have firmly secured income that will, once it all comes through, keep my in coffee and cigarettes for a good while to come.
Anyhow, thats the long and short of it. The sheer hectic nature of the past few months has given me plenty of fuel for future posts on this blog, so keep your eyes peeled for my two pennies worth on a variety of subjects affecting those of you in the same freelancing boat as I am.
